Darren Romeo Show |
|
|
Description |
On March 11, 2005, Darren returned to the Welk Resort Theater in Branson, Missouri. This engagement, marks an unprecedented deal for both Romeo and Branson. Having only performed 9 weeks in 2004, Romeo was offered a Multi-Million Dollar contract to return for multiple seasons…
While the name Siegfried & Roy conjures up images of illusions that fill the stage, a circus-like cavalcade of dancers, and a plethora of exotic animals, Darren's show takes a different approach — it's an intimate, one-man show that focuses on the emotion evoked by magic and music. The goal was to transform the massive 1,504-seat theater into a more personal playhouse, facilitating the music to pervade the soul, and the magic to persuade the mind into disbelief. While the Siegfried & Roy animals still only take the stage at night, Darren is backed-up by an intimate team of dancers and his long-time Leading Lady Kristy Michelsen.
The show is punctuated by dramatic illusions, including an updated version of Darren's original magic/music combination, a tribute to his namesake, Bobby Darin. Through an exclusive arrangement, legendary magician Harry Blackstone Jr. is also paid a tribute, as Darren now performs the orginal Floating Light Bulb illusion from the Blackstone family's legacy. Comedy interludes are sprinkled throughout the show — including a humorous stunt involving Darren's piercing falsetto! The show also features an elaborated version of Darren's theatrical Phantom of the Opera sequence, wherein he sings the musical's now-classic "The Music of the Night". |
